Policy Research and Learning

A4ID's Policy Research and Learning team help A4ID to achieve its mission by supporting lawyers and legal professionals to grow their expertise in relation to the development sector. Through running training sessions, developing guides, and conducting research, the team provides tools for lawyers to step up and play their part in eradicating poverty and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Policy

A4ID produces monthly blogs in relation to policy and legal reform relevant to the SDG agenda. The organisation also publishes ad hoc legal analysis and policy recommendations relating to A4ID focus areas.

A4ID invites policy organisations or networks to connect with its Policy Research and Learning Team about opportunities to collaborate. This could be in relation to any of A4ID’s current focus areas – the SDGs, legal pro bono & development, technology & development, biodiversity, rule of law, and responsible business. Please contact events@a4id.org.

Research

A4ID contributes to legal research projects through various networks. This includes the GALA Debt Incarceration Project, in partnership with the Global Alliance for Legal Aid (GALA). Leveraging the support of various global law firms, A4ID and GALA are conducting a comparative study of debt incarceration laws around the world.

A4ID also publishes research reports in consultation with experts in geographical focus areas about specific behavioural or structural change – for example, Stories of Change.

Learning

The Policy Research and Learning team delivers training sessions to legal and development professionals on varied topics related to the A4ID focus areas.

Currently, A4ID offers courses in virtual and hybrid models through its learning platform Learnworlds. This includes its flagship annual Law & Development Training Programme, which has trained hundreds of lawyers.

Further, the organisation runs ad hoc sessions throughout the year to assist with capacity-building of development organisations, such as training on Montoring & Evalution.

If you are interested in collaborating to deliver learning content, or in organising bespoke training for your organisation, please get in touch with the team at events@a4id.org.
